UNIVERSITY PARK, CENTRE COUNTY – A case of bed bugs has been reported at Penn State’s Curtin Hall.
A professional pest control service was called in for an inspection. Three rooms are being treated with a heat treatment, which is very effective against the pest. The university is examining all rooms in the building.
Penn State’s Housing staff is trained on how to inspect rooms after students move out in the spring and between conferences. Since bed bugs are the size of an apple seed they say the pests can be overlooked even by the best-trained staff.
